Your air conditioning and heating system requires routine maintenance and safety inspections to keep it operating at its peak efficiency. Just like your car needs regular oil changes, tune ups, and safety inspections. Your heating and cooling system should get a tune-up following the schedule below.

Heat Pump Systems	Two tune-ups per year – approximately every six months – to keep it operating as efficiently as possible.
Gas Furnaces	Annual tune-up and inspection to be sure that they are operating in a safe and efficient manner. Failure to have these systems inspected could be life-threatening for your family. Carbon monoxide, a silent and deadly gas, can be produced by any gas furnace or appliance that is operating inefficiently. Why risk your family’s health and safety? Between professional tune-ups and inspections, what can you do to help extend the life of your heating and cooling system? Follow these simple tips and you will be more comfortable and spend less on your utility bills:

• Change or clean your return air filters every month of operation. Click here to sign up for our Monthly Filter Reminder email.
• Keep all plant growth, shrubbery, etc. (including children’s toys) at least two feet away from the outdoor units.
• Avoid “shooting” your grass at the outdoor unit when mowing your lawn.
• Avoid raising and lowering the temperature on your thermostat indiscriminately.

The above tips will help keep the air flow for your system at its best, which in turn will lower your heating and cooling utility bills and increase your equipment’s life.

Oh, and one more very important tip…

• Try to find a comfortable temperature setting and leave it there. Unless you have a programmable thermostat that will automatically change temperatures in your home, you will be wasting energy dollars by frequently “tinkering” with the temperature settings.
